BrokerageUP! was launched in response to a California Association of REALTORS® (CAR) survey that showed that of the top 100 brokerage firms in California, only 14 were run by women. Yet according to the National Association of REALTORS®, 63% of all REALTORS® are female.

What the CAR research showed, however, was that while women were opting out of the traditional big box brokerage models, they were instead creating vibrant new small brokerage models that expressed the values, their needs to contribute to their communities, and their unique approaches to doing business their way. Many of these models have withstood the test of time with a record of sustained success for 30 years or more.

Bernice Ross, the CEO and President of BrokerageUP!  knows real estate

With over 30 years of real estate sales experience, Bernice pairs her expertise as a psychologist and an educator to create world class agent and brokerage training programs. Her training programs continue to be the most comprehensive and cutting edge real estate sales training available today. During her tenure as Executive Director of Training at the 4,000-agent Jon Douglas Company, her training programs led that company to become the top producing company per agent in the United States. Her training programs just flat-out work!

 

Bernice understands the needs of women

Bernice has long been aware of the need for women to collaborate and support one another in the real estate industry. In 2007, she launched the Awesome Females in Real Estate  conference, and has brought together women who hold leadership positions in the industry to help them meet the exclusive challenges they face.

In early 2017, the California Association of Realtors (CAR) discovered that even though over 60 percent of their membership was female, only 14 of the 100 top producing firms were run by women. In response to this situation, CAR launched WomanUP! initiative.

Bernice was hired as a consultant to help CAR bring more women locally and nationally into brokerage leadership positions. She also authored the CAR white paper titled: “How Women Brokers Are Reinventing Leadership in the 21st Century.”

The WomanUP! research revealed some surprising findings. Women were deliberately opting out of the traditional big box brokerage models in favor of  vibrant new small brokerage models that expressed their values, their desire to contribute to their communities, and their unique approaches to doing business their way. Moreover, many of these models have led their founders to become the top brokerage in their area, in many cases for 30 years or more.

Bernice designs comprehensive training and coaching to serve both brokers and their agents

Bernice quickly realized that documenting and developing training from these proven approaches would benefit all brokers. She launched BrokerageUP! in early 2018 with one simple goal in mind:

To support brokers and managers to create profitable brokerages through collaboration, contribution, and competency.
